I felt the huge urge to make a digital illustration just for me. Because I like to make something like this. It was lovely to concentrate on the clean line-art. At first I only wanted to draw the girl in the foreground and add a simple background to it. But while figuring what kind of simple background I would chose, nothing seemed satisfying to me and the idea of a crowded subway stop kept popping into my head. In the end I went along with that idea and spent some extra time on my 'just for fun' illustration. The subway-idea also supported the feeling I wanted to express through this girl a lot more: the overwhelm which the crowded atmosphere of public transport or the big city can cause. A clean background wouldn't quite fit to that idea, now would it?

For the subway I used reference pictures of the London Underground.
